Tom Ford’s Spring Summer graded B-

Will the real Tom Ford please stand up? This is the new S/S12 collection from Tom Ford and I have to say I don’t love it. It’s tacky and when has that ever been a word associated with Mr Ford? Provocative, sexy, luxe, maybe, but this is more Primark than Paris, more Manchester than Milan, more Vladivostock than Va va voom. There seems to be a lot of drawstring action going on and strange shiny fabrics, plus odd Spanish style shoulders and big gold hoops. It looks cheap, every piece is either too tight, too frilly or shapeless. I’m hoping it feels and looks better in reality because I am thoroughly underwhelmed.
