Snow News

March 26, 2012

I apologise for the radio silence over the last week but I was away skiing in Austria and didn’t have much access to the internet. We had two days of snow and otherwise beautiful weather all week. I have some seriously uncool sunglasses marks!

Team GB Olympic Fun.

February 13, 2012

It’s good to know that some members of my country’s Olympic team are having some fun before the enormous pressure of the London Games this summer.  To LMFAO’s ‘Sexy and I know it’ Tom Daley, our 17 year old star, leads the diving team merriment and I think it’s brilliant.

Hold on Tight

November 24, 2011

I was sent this earlier today and I think it looks so much fun. Having done quite a few Rodelbahns in Austria (I used to live there) I cannot recommend them too highly; this looks pretty fast, specially brake-free. This is going on my To Do wish list, perhaps in some Westwood with Miu Miu shoes. Now that would be some video!

Brazil II

July 4, 2011

Part Two of my photos of graffiti.  There’s an undertone of violence in many of the images and not just those with a political message, yet somehow this translates into a savage beauty rather than open aggression.

Brazil

June 30, 2011

I haven’t really reported back from my South America trip.  Brazil is such a vibrant country and so much I could say, but the graffitti in Rio……wow! It’s just everywhere and so creative, varied and different.  I took loads of photos and as always editing them has been a nightmare, but so much of it was really awesome, in both imaginative and physical scale and I found it really inspiring.  I’ve started with some photos of the famous Escadaria Selaron in the Santa Teresa district, which is an amazing and on-going work of art involving tiling and mosaics.

May in New York

June 1, 2011

I was away in New York last week, hence the radio silence….why do hotels charge ridiculous amounts of money for using the internet? Anyway, I had a lovely time as usual: good weather, warm though fairly hazy, and most excitingly of all, it was Fleet Week so there were lots of sailors around which definitely added a certain something. My photo of them is pretty poor but I had all the wrong settings and didn’t have time to change them before capturing a blurred Abbey Road style shot. New York never disappoints from a photographer’s point of view, with all those reflective surfaces, the multitude of building shapes, the changing light, the water, the skyline….so as always I had lots to edit down.

I also went to see the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the Met which was absolutely stunning, truly one of the most inspiring and thought-provoking exhibitions I’ve been lucky enought to see. His creative vision is really transformative and there was a mass of interesting  text taken from McQueen’s own commentary on his thought processes.  The real thrill is that details that are perhaps missed even from the front row at the shows are available here close up: feather and shell work, red mud from Africa specially shipped in for dip dyeing, incredible beading, lace work, great conventional tailoring.  Then there are all the incredible accessories from the people who worked with him to realise the unique McQueen catwalk vision: hats, or perhaps headgear is more apt, from Philip Treacy and some stunning jewellery from Shaun Leane.

Happy Easter

April 26, 2011

I hope everyone had a great Easter. I was in the country visiting family and generally enjoying the unseasonably hot weather England has been having. I went on some lovely walks through woods full of bluebells and along  coastal paths, saw some lambs and sampled my first rosé of the year, so for me spring has truly sprung.

Going Away

March 25, 2011

Yes, I am off to see more of this great planet. This time to Brazil and Argentina! I will be away for a month but I’ll make sure I keep posting as much as I can and as always expect lots of photos from all the trials and tribulations that travelling brings. Packing has been a bit of a challenge because as always you want to take stylish clothes but equally you don’t want to lose, stain, crumple or tear your nicest things. So some new resilient trousers and some flip flops have had to be bought (don’t you love H&M, I managed to get practically everything I needed there) and even though it pains me, I think there are going to have to be lots of repeat oufits. I’m hoping to buy some different jewellery out there to help ring  the changes (get it?) with outfits. I’ve had my injections and I’ve got my malaria tablets….wish me luck and stay with me!

Model spotting in NYC

November 29, 2010

I was taking a photo of this rather beautiful  horse sculpture on a street in downtown New York and I was rather annoyed about the man in the frame, when I noticed through my view finder that it was actually model David Gandy standing very picturesquely outside the cafe. So then of course, very subtly, I took loads more of him. Below I have also put up some graffitti ‘posters’ of some models you might recognise, with hilarious spelling to boot.

New York November Edition part II

November 17, 2010

I was lucky enough to be given some amazing courtside Knicks tickets and saw a very exciting game of basketball, which the Knicks so nearly won. We were very close to the game and able to see the ever present Spike Lee berating the ref and urging players on. I saw Jordin Sparks and Ellen Pompeo too, as well as Thierry Henry, American soccer’s latest edition, who I managed to have a quick word with. I think I would definitely get into it if I lived over there, it would be a good substitute for football. And as always, the Hudson river supplied me with inspiration for photographs and stunning sunsets.
